Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jennifer Sauer is a freelance photographer, author and award-winning video journalist. She is known for creating intimate and engaging portraits of her subjects, whether a mother comforting her child, a magical beach, or a handful of tea leaves.
Serving publishers, ad agencies, design firms and editorial venues, as well as non-profit organizations and foundations, Jennifer provides concepts and content for books, annual reports, ad campaigns, websites, editorial vehicles, press kits, and digital video productions. Her work has also been used for development purposes and to influence legislation at regional and national levels. Her first book, The Way to Tea was published in 2007.
Prior to her emergence as a photographer in San Francisco, Jennifer lived and worked in Asia for four years, which inspired her personal and creative vision. Early projects included photo essays on indigenous peoples, comparative religion, and Southeast Asian refugees.
She served on the board of Advertising Photographers of America-SF Chapter for six years and acted as Managing Editor of their e-zine. She shares her musings on American tea culture on her blog, Bon Teavant, and generates articles on tea, life, and photography for other e-zines, magazines, and websites.
